MAM’S hosts UNIKA – sassoferratoturismo

The new exhibition “MAM’s hosts UNIKA. The art of Val Gardena between tradition and avant-garde ” will start on Friday 21st January 2022 in the prestigious MAM’s contemporary art gallery in Sassoferrato.

The event is linked to the recent inauguration of the new “creative residence” of MAM’s.

On this occasion, artists from Val Gardena are invited to represent the UNIKA association, an important reality in Ortisei area, Northern Italy, that exports Val Gardena art all over the world. The project underlines a connection between two important mountain areas deeply linked to the culture of the territory and rich in significant artistic testimonies. The vocation to contemporaneity of MAM’S is thus linked to a deeply rooted artistic culture such as that of Val Gardena, known throughout the world for its sculpture, but which has long been open to the languages of the new.

The exhibition, hosted in the exhibition rooms of the museum on the ground floor, will present over fifty works for a total of twenty-nine artists, where wood is the protagonist, although not unique: sculpture, painting, installations are also part of the exhibition. The agenda has, for the first three days, meetings with the artists and live demonstration of sculpture and painting open to the public.

The exhibition will remain open until March 6th, 2022 and can be visited according to the times below.
